At Perfect Wedding Planner we are no strangers to love; we share love with our families, with our friends, and with our clients. On top of the love we share, the women at PWP give love to those who need it! Just when you think you have given all of the love you could possibly give, you walk into The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island and are immediately drawn to the world around you.
The House is nestled in the town of New Hyde Park, a two minute walk from the Cohen Children’s Medical Center of NY, formerly Schneider Children’s Hospital. It is a home away from home for families of seriously ill children who are undergoing treatment. When you enter through the front doors you are greeted by a child-friendly world of imagination… over sized stuffed animals, beautiful homes to play house and comfy couches to curl up on as you watch your favorite television shows. The rooms in which are reserved overnight for families are warm with handmade quilts on every bed, just like being at grandma’s house. There is huge kitchen with pantry’s full of items donated from their "wish list" allowing families to have a little bit of normalcy and cook a meal at their leisure.
Perfect Wedding Planner had the privilege of getting to know the staff that support and run this special home. Once you meet them it is very apparent why under such unfortunate circumstances this home could still be such a happy place. They are truly miracle workers; making the home a place where children and their families can look forward to being for a break from the coldness a hospital can sometimes exude. They make sure that everyone is comfortable and has the space they need to handle any situation that comes their way. They understand family and how important love and support can be during these most difficult of times. They run different events daily, weekly and yearly to support and give their love to the families staying there.
After visiting this house and meeting these wonderful people, Perfect Wedding Planner is excited to announce that we will be supporting The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island. Not only will we be donating our time at various events to help raise awareness and donations, we will also be giving 100% of our proceeds from our Jr. Event Expo’s to the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island. They say that the house is "The House that Love Built," and we hope that our love can help it to grow.
Cooking For Charity
The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island each night opens there house to the public to come in and cook a dinner for the families of seriously ill children.
It is a great opportunity to get your company, group, or family together and have fun cooking while feeling great about what you are doing. On August 3, 2010 the Perfect Wedding Planning Team along with their friends and family got together and cooked a feast. As Event Planners we had to have a theme and since it was the summer we knew everyone in the house would appreciate a BBQ; but this wasn’t just any BBQ… we created a Carnival! The children were overwhelmed with excitement as we handed out popcorn treat bags, balloon animals, colorful cupcakes, and even carnival themed temporary tattoos!
After a few hours of cooking and serving food to the families it was time for Perfect Wedding Planner to leave. We had such a great time that we would have stayed all night if they would have aloud it. We look forward to going again sometime this year to have more fun cooking a delicious meal in the magical Ronald McDonald House!
